You’ve just made a big investment in a brand new EV, and from the moment you hit the road your paint is under attack. Most EVs have no grille, so the whole front of the car is one large expanse of painted panel facing the highway, while UV rays, bird droppings and contaminants start breaking down the finish immediately. Wax and sealants wear off within weeks, and without proper EV paint protection from day one, that deep glossy shine won’t last.
An EV is not the same job as a petrol car.

On a novated lease or salary packaging?
A lot of new EVs are bought through a leasing provider. We can put your quote together in the format your provider asks for, so you can submit the protection along with the car instead of paying for it separately afterwards. Tell us who you are leasing through when you enquire.
Four reasons an EV is not the same job.
Nearly every EV that comes through the studio arrives with the same handful of problems. None of them are on a generic protection menu.
A front end with almost no grille
Take the grille off a car and what is left is one continuous run of painted panel facing the highway. On most EVs the bonnet, bumper and lower front are all paint, and all of it is in the firing line at 100km/h. It is the single most common reason EV owners come to us about film, and why partial front or full front PPF with coating over the rest is what most of them end up choosing.
Thin, soft factory paint
Across the brands we see, EV paint is thin and soft. It marks more easily in the wash and it leaves less margin when polishing, so the enhancement stage is worked carefully rather than cut hard. It is also the reason a coating is worth more on an EV than on a car with a thick, hard clear coat: there is less paint underneath to lose.
Weeks sitting in a holding yard
New EVs often spend a long time in transport and holding yards before you ever see them. They arrive carrying iron fallout and bonded contamination that a normal wash will not shift. Every car gets a chemical decontamination and a clay stage before anything else happens, and the polishing takes longer than a car straight off a showroom floor.
Sunroof glass that cannot be tinted
Some EVs, MG and Zeekr among them, have a coating on the inside of the sunroof glass that makes conventional tinting impossible. The alternative is Sunroof-X, an 8 mil film applied to the outside of the glass. It rejects 99 percent of infrared and 99 percent of UV, protects the glass from scratches, self heals, and carries a 10 year warranty. Worth asking about before you assume the roof can simply be tinted.
